But I just recently found out that you can solve a Rubik's cube while freestyling.

But when I look at your childhood, which I got to explore through this book, you describe yourself as an orphan with parents.

But I wanted to start off just by asking you, like what's this time been for you?

We're gonna dive into Bobby's new book, This Bright Future.

I'd like to think so.

And you mentioned this at the end of the book, you say that your parents or whatever broke your brothers and sisters, but they didn't break you and the scoreboard says that you're really successful person.

I've forgiven them, I understand that they are mentally ill people, I get that, I don't hold it against them.

I wish they weren't that, and I think there were times in my life when I could see the kind of pure little kid inside of them like there were times when I could see that and it was a really beautiful thing, but it's like I don't say anything any of this like with disdain, it's just what happens, you know or what happened, what happened to me.

Episode: 563: Bobby Hall (aka Logic) | This Bright Future

The book starts with an audio sample of the author's mother having a meltdown, setting the tone for the book's chaotic and sometimes painful exploration of his upbringing. The author mentions that he doesn't hold any resentment toward his parents for their struggles with mental illness, and he hopes to be a better father than they were to him.

"

It's because I'm listening back to a 16-year-old recording while I was recording music. I stopped it, you can hear my mom record like going crazy in the background, and the funniest part is like it's in the audiobook and it's gnarly. And that just gives me that feeling of like, oh right, it's worse than I thought it was, you know what I mean?

My number one thing, and I think I make that very clear in the world, yeah, it's like I'm not trying to hurt anybody.

I've forgiven them. I understand that they are mentally ill people. I get that. I don't hold it against them. I wish they weren't that, and I think there were times in my life when I could see the kind of pure little kid inside of them, like there were times when I could see that, and it was a really beautiful thing.

The scoreboard says that you're really successful person and we'll y'all go over some of your accolades in the show clothes if people don't know in in the intro, but like you could like definitely are not a fuck up, right?

I've tried to turn everything that I've gone through into a source of entertainment, while also allowing that to have some therapeutic, you know, measure over me while doing so whether it's through music, whether it's through writing, it's all cathartic, you know what I mean.

it's heart wrenching yet of lifting and he said it's the story of his resilience and self-actualization into the person an artist that he is today and he said it's tragic, funny, profound and a hell of a good read and I would totally agree

when I sat down to prep for this show I thought okay I'm going to skim the book you know see see what I can add some more because I have more familiar with his music but I ended up reading the thing from cover to cover. I really enjoyed it.
