I have a book dr. peterson i have a book that was published in 1998 four kids i brought it with me show and tell this book came out it's called my my gender workbook um and it has on the cover um if you see the picture here is half half a barbie and half a can uh-huh okay obviously a book for young people and the entire premise of this book is that the gender binary uh is false that we are not we do not all fit into this category of male and female and and they're not talking about her mafridates or intersex okay they're talking about none of us no one fits into it it's oppressive and we need to rebel against it so clearly written by the author is Kate bornstein an individual who um has had a very interesting gender journey going back and forth born as a male then a female then back and then neither and this individual Kate bornstein in 1998 again i'm just i want to emphasize how long ago this book was available and written four young people to challenge them and to um to to indoctrinate them with the idea that society is placing on you these false restrictions society is telling you yeah you have to be a boy or a girl and that is um that that is something that is it's like racism it's like sexism it's a terrible thing patriarchal oppress yes and we have to break it's in its purist form so you know you have to understand that that this is very enticing for teenagers who want to believe in something and want the world to be a better place and they want to fight against something they want to fight against the evil so this is presented as another evil that exists in society so um you know and this in this book actually was recommended uh by oh gosh i'm gonna say i'm not sure the American Psychiatric Association or maybe it was the American Psychological Association one of those major professional mental health organizations way before um the DSM acknowledged gender dysphoria was not a disorder
