This book is a biography of Cato the Younger, a prominent Stoic figure in the Roman Republic. The podcast excerpt discussed his early life, his commitment to Stoicism, and his defense of tradition.
I've raved about the book Rome's last citizen many times. It's a great book.
And one of the things I try to do here on the weekend is provide excerpts or insights into some of those books.

An excerpt from this book was used in this podcast episode; it is a biography of Cato the Younger, focusing on his early life and his clash with the Roman Empire. The podcast episode highlighted Cato's resilience, his strong sense of justice from a young age, and his eventual role as a hero of the Stoic philosophy.
It's really a great book because before I'd written Lives of the Stoics, there really weren't that many biographies of the actual stoics, particularly some of these lesser known stoics.
And today's episode is an excerpt from this great biography, Rome's Last Citizen, The Life and Legacy of Cato, Mortal Enemy of Caesar.
