They are in fact the targets of a very targeted campaign from people in positions of power in politics and every other lever of American culture that are doing what they can to indoctrinate these teenagers and young adults to believe that women are always going to be in systems of oppression from a patriarchy,

that women are going to literally die if they don't vote to enshrine abortion through all nine months of pregnancy or even younger children, that they should chop their genitals off not to be crass but quite literally in order to be truly affirmed in their identity.

So you are seeing the results of this targeted campaign play out with Gen Z right now.
