It's this great memoir of American history. It's a great memoir of the kinds of characters that you don't hear enough about in books. Most books are about the famous men. This is about some of the unsung heroes of American and world history, the immigrants, the mothers, the caretakers, the nurses, all these women who went on to create the family that made Susan and Susan's life possible.
