as I was talking to Kermit Roosevelt the third who is Theodore Roosevelt's great great grandson he read that book and loved it and Kermit Roosevelt accompanies Roosevelt on that journey and he was like is he going to make it that like like literally him making it what if he hadn't made it Kermit Roosevelt if there would not exist

And I knew next to nothing about this. And I went and I read this great book called The River of Doubt, which was authored by today's guest on the podcast, Candice Millard,

She wrote The River of Doubt, Theodore Roosevelt's darkest journey.

All of these were New York Times bestselling books, but they are three of my all time favorites.

I would start with Destiny of the Republic. Then I'd read River of Doubt. Then I'd read Hero of the Empire.

And then in the museum, they have a copy of Theodore Roosevelt's copy of Epictetus. And I remember I walked in and I saw this and I didn't know that Theodore Roosevelt had ever really connected with the Stoics in any way.
