The book posits that Hauptmann was an accomplice, with John Knoll as the mastermind. The author of *Hauptmann's Ladder* praised its writing, particularly the epilogue.
And actually this author came to one of my signings for my book, which I was very pleased about as a man named Zorn. And Mr. Zorn wrote a book called Cemetery John. He concludes that Hauptman was involved, but he believes that Hauptman was an accomplice and that his suspect, I believe the name is John Knoll, was the mastermind behind it all. And I told him, I said, I don't agree with the conclusion, but I thought his book was really well written.
And in fact, the best part, and I told him this, the best part to me was in his epilogue. He has a part where he talks about moments before his father died, like a deathbed scene where he's talking to his father. And in my case, his book came out around the time my father passed in 2012. So maybe I was more, you know, maybe it caught me more at the time. But I thought that part was extremely touching.
