She's just, I just love her story. This girl that came from nut bush, Tennessee with nothing. She marries Ike, you know, she gets in the band. They have this horrific, insanely abusive relationship. If you've seen the movie, what's love got to do with it?
It's a book I think as well, but she's perseveres and she survives and she gets rid of him. And then she launches this incredible rock and roll career for another 40 years. And there's this worldwide sensation.
And what I love about it, and it's a true story at the end of the movie. It's just so great. She's in this divorce with Ike, right? And he's beating the shit out of her, beating the crap out of their kids. He was horribly abusive. He was a drug addict, all this stuff.
And they're trying to decide what they're going to do with the divorce. And she said to her lawyer, I don't want anything. I mean, there's millions of dollars, there's record labels, they own those, all this stuff. She said, I don't want anything except my name. Meaning that he named her Tina Turner. Ike Turner named her Tina Turner. Her name was Anna Mae Bullock. And she said, I want to stay as Tina Turner.
