Bitten The Secret History of Lyme Disease and Biological Weapons

Lyme disease is caused by a spirochetal bacteria, and you get it through a tick bite.

The problem is it's very often misdiagnosed or diagnosed late, and that that's where the controversy comes in for the disease.

And to complicate it, a tick can transmit up to like 20 different disease-causing microbes, and so if you have like two or three or four of those in one tick bite, it creates a confusing set of symptoms that doctors have trouble diagnosing.

Well, the thing I found in my research for my book is Lyme disease wasn't a problem, a noticeable problem, until the mid-70s.

It's been The Secret History of Lyme Disease and Biological Weapons. And I have to say, I didn't prove that Lyme disease is a biological weapon, but I'm saying something unusual, which I think is related to the biological weapons program, had it happened in the late 60s and the government wants to cover it up.

She discovered circumstantial evidence linking the outbreak of Lyme disease in the 1960s to the US military.

My hypothesis was that this was the biological weapon they were trying to cover up.

this book like I think uh Chris Smith the representative from New Jersey said like this book really inspired me to take up this legislation

but in the book Newby basically says the government at Fort Detrick Maryland and on Plum Island New York before it was turned into an animal disease research center were doing it was an insect disease research center before that I guess they were they were looking into

the um they they definitely were doing bio warfare research there um but early early 1950s yeah but and then Fort Detrick into for however long if they're not still doing it now but the um they they were apparently looking into ticks as delivery systems for biological weapons

but what Newby is saying is they were doing that research and then the way we got Lyme disease is whatever research they were coming up with escaped say a tick attached to a bird that flew off of Plum Island and landed in the area around Lyme Connecticut and these ticks got off and they started to breed and they they became endemic in this area and that's where Lyme disease came from there was actually a biological weapon that was produced and then inadvertently probably not purposefully released into the larger population in the northeast
