There is a book on this called No Surrender written by Hiro Onoda, which is the guy that we're talking about. I want to say it's Onoda, but it's a good book. I don't know if I would recommend it because well, you're gonna find out why.
He received a hero's welcome, which like is weird because the guy killed a ton of people. He was awarded a military pension and signed a $200,000 contract for his book No Surrender, which is why I don't know if I recommend you reading it because this is technically a war criminal, right?
