In 2001 Curtis Yarvin, also known as Mincius Moldbug, wrote Democracy, the God that Failed. The book follows a series of blog essays that became very influential among Silicon Valley proto fascists. Yarvin's basic idea was that the U.S. and most of Western society was controlled by what he called the "cathedral," a group of professors and journalists who acted like a dominating Brahmin class enforcing a progressive state religion.
